Just saved me a trip downstairs!
I am using:
Virtual machine: Vmware workstation
Os: Red hat Linux
I wanted to implement wol to wake up compute node. I keyed in what you have did on the frontend node. But the line, eg(64 bytes from 192.168.206.134: icmp_seq=38 ttl=3302 time=0.172 ms…) keeps running. I ping the inet addr 192.168.206.134. Is it wrong? Please help me.
Thank you! 🙂
If you’re receiving a ping reply from the host (e.g. 64 bytes from…) then the host is up. When the host is down you’ll get a response like “Destination Host Unreachable”. On Linux, ping will run forever, so you can press ctrl-C to cancel it.
